FIRST FORMAL APPLICATION - ANOTHER STEP FORWARD
The Forum has taken its first formal step in the neighbourhood plan process. We have applied to Exeter City Council for approval for the area of St James ward to be the designated area for the neighbourhood plan.
Like most applications, there is a consultation period. In this case, the deadline is 25 June. The Council is handling the consultation and has publicised the application in public notices in the Express & Echo.
There will also be notices on lamp posts and public buildings around the ward. Let us know if the signs are damaged or disappear. The Council will replace them.
COMMUNITY'S OPPORTUNITY TO INFLUENCE PLANNING - JOIN IN
Once the area is approved and Forum members have ratified the draft constitution we can move to the next formal step - approval of Exeter St James Forum as the organisation responsible for the neighbourhood plan.
The Localism Act ensures that an adopted neighbourhood plan will have teeth. Planning officers, developers and landowners alike will have to take note of the policies in a neighbourhood plan.
There is still time to have a say on the St James plan. If you are interested in open spaces, improving our streets, the local economy or would like to help us build up links with other groups and organisations in the ward, we'd love to hear from you.
